Ebola Outbreak in DRC Declared Global Health Emergency
There is a very threatening Ebola virus outbreak in the province of Ituri in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This is termed as a war that the country is currently losing according to the announcement made by the military governor. At the time when this was being written on May 15, there were confirmed cases of more than 900 infections with 223 fatalities recorded. Given the magnitude of the outbreak, the WHO declared it a public health emergency. Dealing with Ebola virus disease in this particular place is tough due to the species of the virus, which cannot be vaccinated against and has no cure.
